Daniel Carey, 1839-1927

Daniel Carey

Born in Ireland to British parents, c1839. 

Worked as a labourer for both Ica and Blairlogie Stations. After he retired he lived in the Carterton Old Mens' Home (Carter Court).

He died on 15 July 1927 and is buried in Archer Street Cemetery.

The death occurred at Masterton Hospital on Saturday morning after a short illness of Mr. Daniel Carey. The deceased was born in Ireland eighty-eight years ago, and for the past forty years was a resident of the Wairarapa district, being employed at different times by Mr. W. Andrew, lca station, and at Blairlogie station. The funeral will leave Mr. G. Hyde’s mortuary chapel at 2 p.m. to-day.
